Sudhagad, also known as Bhorapgad, is a hill fort in Raigad district. Pune Trekkers has visited Sudhagad; for an independent trip, choose and check the approach before leaving.
Route and planning
IndiaHikes documents an approach from Thakurwadi near Pali via ladders and stone steps to Pachhapur Darwaja. Check the condition of ladders and the route locally before relying on them.
A different approach from Dhondase reaches the fort by Maha Darwaja. Do not assume that a time or distance for one route applies to the other. We have not verified a walking distance for either approach.
Plan transport to and from the chosen village in advance, carry enough water for the day, and allow time for the descent and the large fort plateau.
How difficult is the Sudhagad Fort trek?
Our planning rating: Moderate. Walkers comfortable with a sustained climb, steps and ladders, with a prepared companion or local guide. Difficulty varies by route and conditions.
Before you leave
- Check the weather, trail and access before leaving.
- Wear shoes with grip and keep your hands free on ladders.
- Carry water, food, a torch and a weather layer.
Season and conditions
Cooler, clearer months can make a long day more comfortable. Rain can make steps and ladders slippery.
Leave the place better
Treat fort structures and water sources with care, and carry all waste back.
